There are basically 2 mugen engines you need to add to your M.U.G.E.N download list. One is the old mugen engine that is compatible with most characters. The other one is the new beta mugen that is being developed by elecbyte and has bugs and incompatibilities with some characters.
Old mugen download
This is the good old winmugen engine that is being used for more than 10 years now. This one works with most characters.

At elecbyte's site you can download the latest version of mugen. This new mugen will replace the old one soon.

which characters are compatible with which version of mugen ? any ideas!
All chars are compatible with the old version and most of them are compatible withe the new one also.
